Perform root cause analyses of IG failures, conduct industry standard testing on internal and competitive products, and support research and development efforts for sealant formulation and applications testing.
Execute Pilot Plant trials by creating IG units to desired specifications and then preparing for the battery of performance tests they will be evaluated on.
Performance testing:
- MVBT (Moisture Vapor Bead Thickness
- IG Unit thickness and conformity
- Argon level and retention
- Frost Point
- Curing Temperature
This involves application of sealants on R&D glass units, measurements, monitoring of the bake and curing process and running automated pilot equipment.
Documenting results and executing on testing plan.
Crossover with the Applications Lab (This will be 10% or less of the job intially, but will train in over time to be a back up or special project support):
- Durability Testing: 1) Pre-Conditioning testing for humidity and heat 2) Temperature Cycle 3) Wet UV Cycle 4) Pressure Cycling
