    DESCRIPTION:


    The Electronic Health Record/Application Specialist II is responsible for the ongoing design, build, testing, validation, and support of mission critical applications including EHR/ EMR /EDR.

    Electronic Health Record/ Application Specialist may lead and coach Electronic Health Record / Application Specialist staff within the Dept.

    Requires the ability to interact with end-users and demonstrate advanced critical thinking and follow through skills when developing solutions to identified issues.

    Requires ability to travel across all SAC Health Clinics. May require use of personal vehicle if Company vehicle is unavailable.


    Schedule:
    4 days per week, 10 hours per day


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES:
    Under direction and working independently interacts with Supervisors / Managers / Department Heads and CareConnect partners.

    Performs specialized healthcare information systems analysis and provides expertise in one or more areas of systems analysis for a healthcare cluster.

    Provides expertise in healthcare information systems analysis, including definition of user requirements, feasibility studies, design, program specifications, testing, and implementation of clinical/financial applications or infrastructure; ensures functional and technical requirements are fully documented.

    Evaluates impacts, analyzes constraints, and assesses risks to support go/no go for complex systems; coordinates preparation of detailed specifications, addressing scope and boundaries of the system, data requirements, algorithms, user functions, forms and reports, clinical/financial/patient access workflows, interfaces, security, and business continuity requirements.

    Documents process flows, existing and future process flow improvements. Standardizes all data elements across all settings. Documents all alerts' notifications and approvals. Defines all interfaces requirements. Completes system design for implementation and optimization of EHR modules. Conducts unit, system tests and integration tests. Develops conversion plans, policies and procedures and training plans. Supports system go-live, ongoing maintenance and enhancements.
    Demonstrate ability to maintain confidential/sensitive information by HIPAA rules and regulations and enforce HIPAA policies.

    Work with users on improving user experience and communicate ideas and feed back to the EHR Developers / Supervisor / Management team.

    Work with 3rd party vendors or collaborators to create and deactivate user accounts, ensure permissions, and access levels for staff are set correctly.

    Audit users and permissions to ensure staff only have access to what they need and ensure only active staff have access to the EHR.Produce clear and concise documentation for the EHR/ EMR /EDR and ensure that all documentation stays up to date.

    Participate in training clinical / administrative staff on new forms and functionality and works with staff on testing the new forms and functionality.

    Create basic reports for EHR clinical documentation, EHR auditing, and data requestsStrong organizational skills including proficiency in the usage of project planning tools and project management methodologies.

    Other related duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Healthcare IT, Data Analytics, or Cyber-security required. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of educational degree.


    Licensure/Certification:
    Valid CA Driver's License.

    As a requirement of this position you must be willing to receive EPIC certification for the module(s) you have been hired into.

    To satisfy this job requirement, you must receive a passing score (as defined by Epic), within three attempts, on all required exams and projects.


    Experience:
    Three (3) to five (5) years of healthcare experience in electronic health records systems, or similar systems required


    Required knowledge/experience:
    Solid knowledge of clinical or business/revenue cycle workflow in healthcare. Familiarity with EPIC or other EHR/EMR products.

    Health Care related systems includes Registration, Admitting, Discharge, Transfer (R/ADT), Patient Scheduling (PS), Training, clinical applications, ancillary services applications such as lab, radiology, dental and pharmacy, performing information systems analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of large complex enterprise application (clinic and/or financial) systems.


    Essential Technical/Motor Skills:
    Excellent customer service, problem solving and technical skills. Familiarity with healthcare terms, data, and technology. Some knowledge of project management software and other project management tools for task tracking and team collaboration efforts.

    Able to use project planning software, spreadsheets, and word processing software; input data, typing, copying, and effective use of the telephone.

    Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS project, Access, etc.).


    Interpersonal Skills:

    Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate; accept direction.

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
