    DOC requires the services of a desktop support service lead staff augmentation consultant to assist with SCCM administration for the client and Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole

    Complete Description:

    This position will be all onsite (1920 Technology Pkwy, Mechanicsburg, PA during the training period (evaluation would be conducted at 30 days to determine if the individual is ready to handle tasks without direct oversight; however, it could be longer based on the evaluation), then will transition to hybrid (which may vary depending on mission requirements, but the intent would be for no more than 3 days of remote work per week).
    Interview will be in-person and onsite. This position is a lead centralized support member in the Desktop Services Section. Responsibilities include establishing configuration standards and installation procedures for a variety of intra networks, operating systems, 3rd party (COTS) software packages, and inter-agency applications throughout Corrections, PA Probation and Parole (PBPP), Sexual Offender Assessment Board(SOAB), Office of Victim Advocate(OVA) and the Firearms Education and Training Commissions; performing equipment and software preparation, installation, distribution and maintenance work in a network environment; establishing installation procedures for networked hardware and software for BIT staff and information technology field staff; functioning as 3rd level IT support team member; instructing information technology personnel with equipment and software installation, maintenance and use issues; identifying patterns of equipment and software failure and disseminating technical information. This position also researches hardware and software technical specifications, vendors and pricing; and recommends specific hardware and software for acquisition. Occasional travel is required in performing the above and in supporting field information technology technical staff.

    The primary position function is to research, test, configure and deploy SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) packages, McAfee/EPO (ePolicy Orchestrator) and IPS (Intrusion Prevention Software) to the desktop and laptop computers throughout Corrections, PA Board of Probation and Parole (PBPP), the Sexual Offender Assessment Board (SOAB), the Office of Victim Advocate (OVA) and the Firearms Education and Training Commission.

    This position also serves as a backup with the responsibility for the configuration of Laptop Encryption (BitLocker), Knowledge Management, desktop configuration and management of Virtual Desktop Environments, and standard operating procedure documents throughout the Department of Corrections, PA Board of Probation and Parole, Correctional Industries (CI), the Sexual Offender Assessment Board, the Office of Victim Advocate and Firearms Education and Training CommissionThese packages would include monthly security patches, hotfixes, 3rd Party (COTS) software, in house applications.

    This position also serves as a backup with the responsibility for the deployment of EPO\McAfee and antivirus software to all desktops and laptops in the above noted organizations.

    This position also serves as a backup which is responsible for the installation of IPS or Intrusion Prevention Software and monitors same on all desktops within the above noted organizations.


    Duties includes:

    • Develops and provides training to staff on the installation and configuration of applications installed in a Virtual Desktop Environments as well as System Center Configuration Manager.
    • Implements the use of System Center Configuration Manager to servers and clients; designs and maintains the DOC and PBPP implementation of SCCM; monitors SCCM system for errors and takes corrective action by maximizing efficiency; reviews operation of SCCM and 3rd party technical consultants to identify areas where design of system can be improved; creates, configures, and provides documentation as well as instruction on NOS and software packages for the creation of images to be deployed statewide via SCCM; develops procedures standards and guidelines and configuration of SCCM to ensure that clients for both Corrections and PBPP statewide are updated with Security Patches, Antivirus, and application patches in the variety of networked environments that Corrections BIT supports; leads the troubleshooting of technical problems as well as supports other IT staff both centrally and in the field; documents troubleshooting techniques as well as resolutions for IT staff both centrally and in the field. This position also creates SCCM documentation and audits that documentation biannually.

    Lead in the implementation of hardware and software that will be used statewide for Corrections and PBPP which includes researching, reviewing technical specifications of software in the variety of networked environments supported by Corrections BIT; resolving network and other conflicts between various networked environments between client and server hardware; composing documentation to support selection, configurations to other IT staff centrally and in the field; and performing as the technical lead in configuration, diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving network problems.

    Document and track support issues using Service Now, and other agency related methods, including email resource accounts.- Testing, Configuration, and Deployment of Windows through SCCM- Testing, Configuration, and Deployment of Office- Testing, Configuration, and Deployment of Direct Access- Testing, Configuration, and Deployment of Windows Inmate Images- Leverage AirWatch to enhance Windows Modern Device Management and ease of use- Backup for VDI desktop environment- Backup for SCCM environment- Testing, Configuration, and Deployment of SAP GUI- Facilitates the technical knowledge transfer to statewide technical staff as well as PSDC IT Staff- Performs related duties as required.
