- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification in the state of South Carolina
- Compliance with all local and state regulations for special education teachers
- Experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Provide direct instruction to students based on their individualized goals and objectives
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with various learning abilities and disabilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and other support staff to ensure students' needs are met
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Provide behavior management and support strategies for students with behavioral challenges
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for support
- Attend IEP meetings, team meetings, and other professional development activities as required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, attendance, and services provided
