- Assist in installation, start-up, and hand-off acceptance of equipment and upgrades worldwide.
- HMI and PLC programming that meets/exceed client's scope of work
- System architecture, system configuration, programming, and design.
- Development of P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams
- Execute and meet agreed timelines set by the Customer and Project Management.
- Utilize one line and three line schematic diagrams as well as ladder logic diagrams to troubleshoot and modify existing software programs.
- Provide technical expertise related to Programmable Logic Controls, Human Machine Interface controls, control functions and associated hardware, 3 Phase motors and inverters, and similar
- Summarize work activities, collect data, and send clear and concise e-mails to team.
- Provide remote customer support via email, phone, or other means.
- Ensure safety practices are followed and maintained including near-miss reporting.
- Wear appropriate clothing and PPE as needed whenever potential hazards exist.
- Make use of methods, checklists, and procedures established by Engineering.
- Participate in Failure Analysis, troubleshooting, and feedback to the team.
- Accountable for:
- Support of manufacturing facilities, including remote.
- Designing, programming, and coordination of control systems and projects.
- Maintaining and updating of electrical drawings, ensuring the tracking of equipment changes are documented, and drawings are always current.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving of equipment controls related problems.
- Interfacing with domestic and international Vital companies to ensure controls policies/standards are understood and being adhered to.
- Maintaining effective communication levels while fostering team building.
- Ensures adherence to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
- Works closely with Customers, Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Aftermarket and Project Management with minimal oversight to achieve project milestones.
- Ensure certifications are current.
- Work with Manager to continue development path
- Reports to an Engineering Manager or head of department.

Job Summary:
The Controls Engineer supports service/support, developing electrical controls systems and designs, PLC/HMI programming, data collection and optimization of control systems, and assists with equipment implementation and startup of machines in the semiconductor industry like vacuum coating and automation. This is a full-time exempt position. This person will be working with Siemens Step 7 systems and Siemens TIA Portal software platforms (for Programmable Logic Controllers & Human Machine Interface devices) and programming motor controls.
We are looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our programming team. The ideal candidate would be proficient in programming Siemens PCS7 and process flow diagrams. What You Need for this Position
BS in Electrical, Controls Engineering
- 3+ years experience programming Control Systems DCS and PLC systems (Siemens PCS7, DeltaV, Allen Bradley, Siemens S7/ S5)
- 2+ years experience programming, configuring HMI systems ( Allen Bradley, Siemens)
- Strong understanding of P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams
BONUS Points for:
- 3+ years programming Control Systems DCS and PLC systems
- Experience with system checkout and startup
Eligibility:
- Travel 20-30%
- Must be willing to as required for periodic shutdowns
- Must have valid drivers license
