- Overseeing the patient's progress towards treatment goals and making adjustments to treatment plans as needed
- Conducting psychological assessments, such as cognitive tests or personality assessments, to determine whether patients are capable of understanding their legal rights in court or whether they are competent to stand trial
- Communicating with other medical professionals regarding patient progress, risks of continuing treatment, or need for changes to treatment plans
- Engage the patient and family to develop treatment plans that address identified goals in psychotherapy
- Recommending activities and exercises to help patients develop the skills and mechanisms needed to manage their diagnoses or overcome their phobias and addictions.
- Maintaining detailed counselling and observation notes on each patient.
