    Job Summary & Requirements

    Job Summary:

    Assists operator by staging, loading and unloading product to various types of equipment.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the behaviors of punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism towards supervisors and co-workers, and self-directed task completion.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Must comply with all departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures), company GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices), Employee Handbook Policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.
  • Works normal shift hours and overtime as required.
  • Requires the constant and careful handling of finished printed sheets and product that can become heavy and hard to handle.
  • Works closely with others to ensure work meets ship dates and deadlines.
  • Keeps scrap gathered and in scrap bins.
  • Operates hand tools and hand trucks.
  • Feeds or catches covers, signatures, and sheets into various machines for collating, stitching, trimming, folding, ruling, stapling, roughing, indexing, gluing, and perforating operations.
  • Examines stitched, collated, bound, and unbound publications to ascertain that pages are bound in numerical or folio order according to sample copy, and for such defects as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn, loose, and uneven pages, and loose and uncut threads.
  • Wraps product in plastic, using shrink-wrapping machine, packs products in boxes or tubs for transport to booklet press area.
  • Follows instructions accurately.
  • Coordinates efforts as part of the team to provide assistance to all co-workers (in all departments) as needed to maximize production efficiencies.
  • Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with co-workers.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to read and write comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to address issues involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, information and or work assignments with co-workers and management as needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read a standard ruler to 1/32" and a metric ruler to 1mm.
  • Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements:

    Regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms.

    Frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.

    Frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 125 pounds.

    Requires constant movement and bending.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust, chemicals and vibration.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
