    Description

    The Employee Health and Safety Specialist II plays a crucial role in supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for Hussmann Services in the Salem, NH/NE district. This individual stands as a key leader for Health and Safety practices in the NE District and conducts regular visits to all sites within the district, reporting directly to the EHS Manager. Candidates are expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the Salem, NH area.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervision and coordination of all EHS activities within assigned facilities to ensure compliance with EHS standards and regulations
    • Conducting and managing EHS inspections & audits following company policies
    • Developing and updating local EHS programs based on regulations and company guidelines
    • Act as a liaison with local authorities, community, and external bodies on EHS matters
    • Providing EHS guidance to all district departments
    • Identifying potential hazards and suggesting immediate corrective actions
    • Participating in various projects with cross-functional teams
    • Organizing and delivering EHS training sessions
    • Engaging in incident investigation and emergency response activities when required
    • Handling administrative tasks such as maintaining injury records, data entry, and ensuring DOT compliance
    • Analyzing EHS performance data and identifying trends
    • Managing a fleet of around 170 vehicles, including registration and compliance
    • Travel to various locations with potential overnight stays (up to 60% travel)

    Key Requirements:

    • Proficiency in mechanical engineering and commercial refrigeration
    • Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations
    • Possession of OSHA 30 certification or equivalent
    • Valid driver's license
    • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
    • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills
    • Experience with ISO14001 & OHS management systems
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience with a degree, or 7+ years without a degree
    • Prior EHS work experience in construction is a must
