    Job Description


    SCOPE OF POSITION
    This position provides analytical support for the assessment, negotiation, administration, and maintenance of managed care contracts for Ballad Health. The Analyst will assist the Corporate Director and other financial analysts by analyzing contracts and rates.

    This position will work closely with other strategically related areas within Ballad Health including Revenue Cycle, Finance, Quality, Reimbursement, Accounting, and Information Systems.

    This person will also work with payors to confirm interpretation of contract language and help resolve reimbursement issues. This position supports Ballad Health Medical Associates (BHMA) and affiliated physician service and / or Ballad Health facilities.

    The Analyst must be able to use data extraction and analytical tools to analyze, summarize, and visualize information related to managed care contracts.

    The Analyst will access various sources (e.g. Epic, Axiom, Performance Manager) using tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI, Webi, Tableau, SQL).

    The Analyst will use mathematical, statistical, cost accounting, and other methods to prepare reports and analyses, which include profitability analyses for payors, individual practices, service lines, business units, facilities and / or departments.

    The Analyst will maintain the Payor Strategy department repository for reimbursement terms and schedules. The Analyst will review, understand, and disseminate payor communications and policy changes for implications to reimbursement and reimbursement methodologies. The Analyst must understand contract terms and concepts.
    The Analyst will conduct payor compliance research, reporting, and recovery efforts.

    The Analyst will function as a resource for other departments within Ballad Health to provide direction and assistance related to payor reimbursement and policies.

    The Analyst will stay up-to-date and maintain department terms and schedules.
    The Analyst will interact with payors to request, receive, and audit rate and fee schedule changes. The Analyst will compare, identify discrepancies, and maintain schedules on published sites between business areas. The Analyst will understand and calculate rate updates (e.g. annual inflators and charge master increases) to confirm contract changes.
    The Analyst will use electronic medical records (EMR) (e.g. Epic) to investigate issues. EMR certification is encouraged.
    It is vital that the individual in this position possess strong problem solving as well as effective communication skills. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent computer skills, and the ability to learn applications and systems. The Analyst must be able to work under time-sensitive deadlines. Confidentially must be maintained with patient, provider, and payer information.

    This position is expected to promote sound decision making by providing senior management and executive leadership with information and resources related to Payor Strategy and Ballad Health strategic initiatives.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, applied mathematics, statistics, or other analytical field required. Master's degree or CPA desired.
    • Ability to use databases, statistical software, and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) preferred.
    • Healthcare experience, knowledge of healthcare contracts, and various reimbursement methodologies desired.
