    We are adding an experienced Senior Claims Specialist or Senior Claims Technical Director to our diverse claims team. The position will focus on adjusting losses nationwide and include complex litigated claims. The preferred candidate will work from one of our downtown corporate locations in Tulsa, Oklahoma or Cincinnati, Ohio on a hybrid work schedule. Remote opportunities will be considered.

    Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage a book of claims of significant size, complexity, or for a specific line of business. Investigate and maintain claims:
  • Review and evaluate coverage and liability.
  • Secure necessary information (i.e.: reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records, or other documents) in the investigation of claims.
  • Work toward the resolution of claims files, and attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
  • Affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
  • Convey the most complex information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, negotiations, etc.) to all appropriate parties maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Ensure that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory, and regulatory bodies to comply with all company procedures and requirements.
  • Serve as the technical expert on a product(s) and/or line of business.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to executive management on internal and external issues of strategic importance to a product(s) and/or line of business.
  • Plan for and ensure that budget and performance targets are met.
  • Provide technical advice to team and other functional areas.
  • Interact with underwriting and marketing regarding claims trend issues.
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Job Requirements

  • Generally, 8 to 12+ years of experience handling mid-six figure and larger general liability and commercial auto losses as well as experience with excess carriers in the marketplace.
  • A Juris Doctorate Degree is preferred. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent writing, analysis, communication, and organizational skills to reach resolution of claims.
