    Description

    POSITIONSUMMARY: Performs computed tomographic proceduresincluding Biopsies as requested by physicians. Works closely withthe Radiologist. Has the ability to manipulate exams to meet theneeds of the patient and the doctor. Always practices ALARA. Alwaysmakes sure to check positive identification before performing allexams; provides care for patients while obtaining diagnosticquality images for interpretation by a Radiologist based on theirprotocols. Has advanced knowledge of contrast media, how it affectspatients and what action to take in the event of a reaction. Checksand double checks all contrast before it is given to the patientand charts contrast usage appropriately in the patients chart.Ability to work fluidly and as a member of a team. Manage patientflow and obtain pertinent patient medical information/data. PerformQA/QC in accordance with ACR guidelines. Ability to start, maintainand remove IVs and power injector. Maintain equipment and examrooms in optimal condition and reports malfunctions promptly.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION: High schooldiploma or equivalent and graduation from accredited radiologictechnology program.

    CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: ARRTcertification in CT required and New Mexico State licensesrequired. New hires will be required to have ARRT certified in CTwithin 6 months of being hired if they have attended an accreditedCT program. BLS certification issued through American HeartAssociation is required within one month of hire date. IVcertification preferred.

    SKILLS:

    • Thorough knowledgeof associated radiographic equipment
    • Knowledge of advanced cross sectional anatomy andphysiology
    • Knowledge of radiographicpositioning
    • Knowledge and understanding ofMedical terminology
    • Basic computerskills
    • Must be proficient in starting IV's.

    EXPERIENCE:Minimum one-year radiographic experience requiredand 1 year CT experience preferred.

    NATURE OFSUPERVISION:

    -Responsible to: Director,Radiology Manager, Radiology Clinical Supervisor,and CT Charge Technologist.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    - Bloodborne pathogenC

    Exposure to various body fluidsand ionizing radiation.

    PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS: Lifts, positions, pushes and ortransfers patients and equipment in excess of 50 pounds on aregular basis.
