SUMMARY
Performs COVID-19 vaccinations with the Brazos Valley Mobile Action Team (BVMAT), helps coordinate vaccine clinics; attends meetings as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs COVID-19 vaccinations inside and outside of city with BVMAT, including preparing materials and medical supplies (syringes, Band-Aids, alcohol preps, cotton balls, gloves, etc.), providing counseling/teaching, and obtaining proper consent, administering COVID-19 vaccines, and maintaining inventory of supplies;
Assists in maintaining the inventory of BVMAT vaccination supplies;
Reports to PHN (RN) BVMAT coordinator and the Community Health Services Manager;
Maintains HIPAA compliance;
Complies with policies and procedures delineated in the current Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies of Brazos County, Texas and department supplements;
Provides public health and medical information to individuals and groups, including preparing and giving presentations regarding COVID-19 vaccines and representing the Health Department at community functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a non-supervisory position.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing and licensed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with current licensure from the state of Texas, plus two years of general nursing experience.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Medical/first aid procedures; immunization laws, physical assessment skills; and the philosophy, purpose, goals and objectives of public health.
SKILL/ABILITY TO
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with county employees, representatives of governmental agencies, and the general public; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; communicate effectively with individuals, families, and groups from all social levels; operate standard word processing and spreadsheet software; interpret public health policies and procedures; administer medical tests; provide counseling to patients; and analyze and interpret data.
Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure (Texas) and valid Texas Driver's License.

The employee must frequently perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work closely with others as part of a team, and work under time pressures.
The employee may face possible exposure to diseases and illnesses.Employee will be required to work at least one weekend per month. This job requires a considerable amount of travel and fieldwork with a team. Some overnight stays may be required out in the field with the BVMAT team. Some evening hours will be required.
