    Our Claims Director, Property & Casualty is an expert within P&C lines with strong technical acumen and demonstrated leadership behaviors. This individual plays a critical role in achieving our mission in Claims to deliver exceptional service to our policyholders, achieve optimal claim outcomes and operate with a high degree of efficiency. They are responsible for upholding technical excellence for P&C, tracking reserves and payment accuracy of complex claims, retroactive file review and ensuring claims handling is in adherence to internal best practices. In addition to leading high performing AVP's, this individual is expected to foster a culture of technical excellence, provide input into our training efforts and be the go-to mentor for their team while having excellent interpersonal management skills.
    • Leads, motivates and develops team of up to 6 AVP's and approximately 30 indirect team members
    • Responsible for delivery of Key Performance Indicators and adherence to Hiscox USA Claims Best Practices, including (but not limited to) overseeing exposure and ensuring timeliness and reserve adequacy
    • Leads and executes on identified strategic business initiatives to deliver cost effective and innovative claims results, claims litigation strategy and provide consistent, high value customer experience
    • Provide coaching, support, and performance feedback to teams as needed to ensure quality and performance standards are consistently met
    • Active participant and leader with direct and indirect teams, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and coaching
    • Identify training needs or opportunities and coordinate as needed to address competency gaps
    • Drives litigation management behaviors and identifies trends and training opportunities to address same
    • Leads and/or participates in ad-hoc Claims projects as needed
    • Works directly with key stakeholders, such as UW and Claim Operations, to deliver on business needs, goals and important operational objectives.
    Person specification:
    • 10+ years of claims management experience or equivalent, including significant people management and leadership experience
    • 7+ years insurance carrier claims handling experience, preferably within CGL & Property lines
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and flex priorities and strategic initiatives as needed
    • Collaborative and solution-oriented with demonstrated success in managing challenging environments
    • The ability to translate strategic thinking into tangible plans and delivery to effectively meet business objectives
    • Strong operational skills, including both business process and systems, combined with a visible passion for the customer
    • A strong track record of leveraging technology to innovate and improve business performance and efficiency
    • Industry acumen and proven strong judgement to make sound claims and broader business decisions
    • High learning agility and intellectual curiosity combined with the entrepreneurial spirit to work in a complex and global environment
    • A proven track record of collaborating and managing stakeholders across all levels, including senior management

    Salary Range
    $150,000 - $195,000

    Compensation Overview

    The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
