    They are responsible for the leading, directing, and developing our nursing workforce, which contributes to the overall success of both Telecare and those we serve.

    The Senior Director of Nursing is responsible for setting the strategic direction for our nurses and ensuring they are equipped to deliver on our promise of delivering excellence to those most in need.


    Full Time; DAYS; Monday - Friday

    Expected starting wage range is $164,311 - $202,916. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges.

    The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed.

    Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

    POSITION SUMMARY


    The Senior Director of Nursing (SDON) is responsible for activities and functions related to the administration of patient care systems, nursing care areas and departments and other department collaboration.

    This position will work with regional leaders and stakeholders including Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and Training on the design and implementation of comprehensive programs that support nursing workforce development, improve nursing retention and satisfaction, and establish Telecare programs as a desired destination for nursing and entry level careers.

    This role involves extensive coordination and collaboration with the SVPs, VPs, program and leaders.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:



    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Twelve (12) years of experience, which includes five (5) years' experience as a Director of Nursing and seven (7) years of experience, with at least three (3) years in psychiatric nursing OR a baccalaureate degree in nursing and three (3) years in psychiatric nursing.
    • Current valid licensure as an RN in the state of California, or eligible for licensure in California
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified (hands-on course) on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment
    • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, a valid driver's license, a motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply.

    Preferred:


    • An MSN degree as indicated by license / payor source.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Clinical Quality Excellence

    • Works with senior leaders of the organization and programs on strategic initiatives related to nursing workforce and improving nursing services.
    • Ensures that the nursing department is in compliance with all related state, federal and local licensing regulations and requirements.
    • Oversees Infection Prevention program for the organization.
    • Participates in activities, including professional and trade organizations, that promote nursing and mental health services.
    • Establishes and defines standards which ensure safe and therapeutically effective care.
    • Assesses the quality of care rendered by the Nursing Department and ensures sound practice.
    • Oversight of comprehensive Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program within the Nursing Departments which includes frequent collaboration with other departments, employee education and a focus on monitoring departmental standards and actively removing barriers to the provision of high-quality care.
    • Develops departmental goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures; organizes the department to meet legal, organizational and medical staff guidelines; functions in an advisory capacity .
    • Is an active participant of all committees involving members served safety, nursing policies, practices and procedures.

    Employee Engagement

    • Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders.
    • Engage with clinical and nursing leaders to develop and align in the goals of developing and retaining workforce.
    • Develop, execute and strengthen key nursing workforce programs to include (but not limited to):
    o Float Pool

    o Central Staffing

    o Nursing Recruitment and Retention programs

    o Nurse engagement and satisfaction

    • Assumes responsibility for her/his professional growth and the ongoing professional development of the nursing staff.
    • Establishes clinical environment for nursing programs and/or other professions through outreach to schools of nursing within the region.

    Customer Satisfaction

    • Makes use of management practices that include empowerment of staff, the provision of clear and concise expectations regarding duties assigned employees, frequent feedback focusing on both positive and problematic aspects of work performance and other management practices that are consistent with Continuous Quality Improvement
    • Promotes and maintains professional and effective relationships and communications within the department and with other departments.

    Financial Security

    • Works with the programs to assist in Implementation of patient safety programs and actively participates in reducing Workers Compensation
    • Oversight and collaboration with Department budgets for hiring, retention, use of registry etc.
    • Requires travel 25 -35% annually.
    • Partner with enterprise experts and leaders with Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Training and finance to develop and execute workforce strategies for the region of care

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The employee is occasionally required to stand, twist, squat, kneel and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit, walk, reach, bend and do simple and firm grasping.
