    Overview:

    Position Purpose: The Staff Accountant must believe in, practice and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how he or she approaches their role at Green Brick Partners.

    The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing timely and accurate accounting records, including various journal entries and financial and operational reports. This position is also directly involved in the month end close process and the preparation of monthly financial statement reporting.

    Responsibilities:

    Key Job Responsibilities:
    Responsible for the monthly review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP regulations for not for profit organizations
    Prepare monthly production and financial reports (including but not limited to Balance Sheets and Income Statements)
    Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations
    Serve as the lead on cash transactions including preparing outgoing wires, ACHs, and Reserve Funds transfers
    Serve as a primary participant and assistant in the monthly close process
    Review accounts payable and receivable to include performing any necessary data corrections
    Work with Accounts Payable team to review daily batches and ensure proper account coding and approval for capitalized and operating expenses
    Review journal entries of junior or peer accounting staff for accuracy and compliance with corporate accounting policies
    Participate in the onboarding of new client relationships' acting as the bridge between the transactional task completion and the trust building component through overcommunication and monitoring of transition progress
    Prepare journal entries of both a recurring and non-recurring nature
    Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
    Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules
    Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management
    Perform annual association audits with CPA firm
    Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned
    Assist Client Services Manager and Controller with projects as needed

    Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability:

    This position involves the level of duties as described above, or similar, but is not a position of supervisory or management level.

    Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

    Qualifications:

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accountancy from an accredited four-year university required

    Experience:
    5+ years of accounting experience
    Property Management or Common Interest Development experience preferred
    Computer skills
    Microsoft Excel
