    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Safety Trainer is responsible for providing certified instruction for health and safety courses, including but not limited to: Lifeguarding, Swim Instructing, Babysitting, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED), both in the workplace and community settings.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Facilitates high quality certified safety trainings.
    2. Prepares course materials and training locations to assure a productive learning environment.
    3. Adheres to training curriculum and timelines.
    4. Stores materials in their appropriate locations and cleans up the room after the training is completed for the day.
    5. Completes and submits all course paperwork in a timely manner.
    6. Performs all other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. At least 18 years of age.
    2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
    3. Health and/or safety background and demonstrated training experience.
    4. Current American Red Cross Safety Trainer, American Safety and Health Institute Trainer, and/or YMCA Training Instructor certification required.
    5. Strong communication and public speaking skills.

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    1. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and able to stand up easily from a sitting/kneeling position.
