    Description
    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Patient Services Representative (PSR) Supervisor will assist the Director of Patient Services with staff assignments, day-to-day activities of managing the Patient Services department, scheduling time off, and improving processes within the department. The PSR Supervisor will demonstrate the ability to assess PSR staff and provide adequate coverage during hours of operation by maintaining appropriate staff levels within the department; demonstrates the ability to take appropriate actions to maximize productivity by organizing staff workload and established work standards.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Must have a thorough knowledge of duties performed by employees under his/her leadership.
    • Assist with training and monitoring staff and their performance.
    • Do weekly rotations to all assigned sites.
    • Supervise daily closeout of all assigned sites. Ensuring that all payments and balances are posted.
    • Supervise the scanning of all patient information, monitoring for accuracy and productivity.
    • Must be knowledgeable and have the ability to use the electronic health record (EHR) to document patient registration, pre-certification, check in, check out, charge capture and follow ups.
    • Ensures that PSRs are communicating with patients prior to the medical appointment regarding their financial responsibilities (co-pays, deductibles, etc.) and insurance benefits.
    • Ensures that the PSRs are completing the billing process to include gathering charge information, codes, entering the information into the database, filing insurance claims, assisting patients with completing insurance forms, processing unpaid accounts by contacting patients and third party payers as well as updating the necessary insurance information in the patient accounting system.
    • Provide excellent customer service and greet patients and/or visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
    • Must possess the ability to independently make decisions, take appropriate actions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
    • Attend administrative meetings as appropriate and contributes ideas for improving efficiency, productivity and patient satisfaction.
    • Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
    • Assist with preparing departmental policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Patient Services
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or Business Administration
    • At least five years of medical office experience in an outpatient environment.
    • Must have supervisory experience.
    • Must possess proficiency in working with Microsoft Office programs and Electronic Medical Record Systems.
    • Must have exceptional customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
