Senior Accountant (Tax)
American National is seeking a full-time, state and federal tax professional to join the accounting team. To thrive in the position, you should have experience in state tax return preparation, 10-99 reporting, payment processing, and journal entries.
Onsite Placement Location: League City, TX. (Relocation benefits will be assessed accordingly)
How you will make an impact:
Manage the accurate and timely filing of state and local income tax returns including, insurance premium tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and property tax returns
Support monthly state income tax accounting process including the review and approval of state income tax accruals and estimated tax payments
Review of annual 1099 reporting and withholding tax
Develop and maintain close business relationships with various departments throughout the company including Financial Reporting, Corporate Accounting, Investment Accounting, Treasury and Legal
Mentor/lead team members
Qualifications:
Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
Professional level work experience in accounting, & state tax returns
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Demonstrated success in a professional tax environment
Ability to work hours outside of normal business operations during peak periods (Typically, January-March annually)
Preferred skills:
Federal and/or state tax return experience
Insurance industry experience
Public accounting experience
SAP software experience
