Position Summary
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30-4:00.
Job is scheduled to start date August 28, 2024, and will follow a typical school year working September through June.
This is Part-time position currently funded at .8 FTE (Approximately 1,664 hours per year).
Portland Community College's Child Development Center (CDC) on the Sylvania Campus seeks a Child Development Specialist who is passionate about early childhood education (ECE).
The chosen candidate will support a Sr. Child Development Specialist/Mentor Teacher with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and programs for children (ages 6 weeks to 5 years) in the CDC Lab School. The Lab School serves as a training and learning facility for PCC's ECE students while providing high-quality early learning care for PCC students and staff. This is an exciting opportunity to help college students enrolled in the ECE Program implement the theories they learn by modeling skills and providing feedback on appropriate behavior and planned activities.

Two years of post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education (experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis.)
Minimum of one year experience providing group care for young children in a licensed facility.

The first two steps of the range are: $20.93 to $21.56 per hour. Higher salary placement may be available based on qualifications, experience and internal equity.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work Environment
Work pressure, disturbances of work flow and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Working conditions may be somewhat disagreeable requiring occasional exposure to safety hazards, noise and temperature.
Physical Requirements
Some learned physical skills are required. Physical effort such as frequent standing, walking and lifting; guiding and/or carrying of lightweight materials or equipment; occasional periods of sustained effort.
