    Summary

    You will join a hardware team to provide best-in-class electrical design and support documentation.

    The Electrical/Design Engineer will be a critical new member of a small team with plans for future growth.

    You will start with a mentor and eventually have the opportunity for upward mobility.

    The team has service technicians out in the field and will require 10-20% travel for support if service technicians cannot resolve an issue.

    ResponsibilitiesThis role will take full responsibility for the electrical work.

    You will be responsible for both the design portion and the builds.

    Works under the direction of the director of Hardware Engineering

    On a task basis, is responsible for preparing and completing discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, calculations, drawings and specifications.

    Perform engineering calculations to source key electrical and electromechanical components such as power supplies, relays, breakers, and fusers, safety controllers, VFDs, and I/O interfaces, as well as proper wire sizing.

    Design power distribution and control circuits for X-ray equipment for use in the food industry.

    Design Safety circuits for CAT III and PL-4 rated compliance.

    Produce Wiring Schematics using Autodesk AutoCAD software.

    Ensure all designs are compliant with regulatory Standards (UL 61010, UL 508A, CSA, CE, etc.) and Manage 3rd party testing labs to obtain compliance certifications.

    Design proper grounding and wire shielding to eliminate electrical noise and EMI/EMC emissions.

    Work with the Mechanical Design team to lay out Electrical Panels.

    Assist in building prototypes and production machines by working directly with the co-manufacturer.

    Will be responsible for tier 2 support when the service technician needs assistance.

    Oversee and physically perform testing of prototypes and new designs to ensure functional specifications are obtained.

    Produce BOM using Autodesk Upchain Software.

    Produce technical documents including work instructions, Set up instructions, and operator manuals.

    Identifies conflicting design or schedule requirements and generates

    Project Deviation Notices in a timely fashion.

    Required Skillsets:5+ years of experience as an electrical engineer.

    Solid experience using AutoCAD

    Ability to get hands dirty doing wiring to help with control builds.

    AutoCAD 2D experience to do electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

    Schematic, electrical engineering

    10-20% travel for support if service technicians cannot resolve an issue.

    Word, Excel, Power point

    Preferred Skillsets:Experience with X-ray equipment in the food industry

    Familiar with UL and CSA compliance Standards

    Strong knowledge of electrical safety. Category three and performance level four design safety circuits are a big plus.

    EMC EMI and electrical noise knowledge

    Familiarity with UL and CSA compliance standards is also preferred.

    Regulatory Standards (UL 61010, UL 508A, CSA, CE, etc.)

    Bachelors in electrical engineering or similar discipline
