    OrthoVirginia, Virginia's largest provider of expert orthopedic and therapy care, is currently seeking a full-time, experienced Surgical Technician to join our outpatient operatory This position will include call, holidays and weekends.

    Shift will be 3-12 hrs (6:45 am to 7:15 pm).

    Summary

    Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
    Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
    Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by
    assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure.
    preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure.
    performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator.
    assisting with placement of sterile drapes.
    providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure.
    maintaining an organized sterile field.
    ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed; and
    preparing sterile dressings.
    Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas.

    Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients.

    Participate in and maintain ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities. 10 contact hours of education annually.

    Perform interventions necessary to ensure patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level in participating during the time out.

    Demonstrated appropriate sterile technique and scrub technique.
    Ability to disinfect and clean instruments, equipment as needed.
    Ability to work/assist in sterile processing department as needed.
    Demonstrates the setup of the operative field, including the back table as needed for specific surgical cases.
    Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other members for the surgical team.
    Provide consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting.
    Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
    Possess and provide good customer service skills.
    Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
    Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships(teamwork) with team members.
    Attend required meetings and educational sessions.
    Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy of all appropriate information.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Compliance Responsibilities

    Compliant with all federal and state statues including OSHA. Compliant with all AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) standards and OrthoVirginia Policies.

    Job Requirements


    Required:
    High school diploma or GED equivalent
    Graduate from surgical technologist program
    Current Surgical Technologist license in the State of Virginia
    BLS certification
    Basic Computer Skills
