Job Description

The University of Nevada Reno Extension is recruiting for a Community-Based Instructor 3 for Clark County. The position is located in Las Vegas Nevada. * This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The Community-Based Instructor 3 will implement the activities of the SNAP-Ed workplan. This includes direct nutrition education and physical activity promotion at community-based sites to assigned audiences within target populations as directed by the state-level SNAP-Ed administrative team (Principal Investigator, Program Coordinators, Evaluation Analyst) and with input from the Nutrition Specialists. This position will direct education implemented in community-based sites to assigned audiences within target populations including maintaining integrity and fidelity of DE curriculum implementation; participate in provided trainings related to SNAP-Ed programming.

PER EXECUTIVE ORDER

ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH, 2024. Please refer to the link for more information: Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Required Qualifications

• This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR
  
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
  

A valid Class "C" Nevada driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

This position requires a successful fingerprinting / background check.

Food Handler Safety Training certificate

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with education or experience related to teaching, public health, nutrition, or physical activity is highly desirable are encouraged to apply.

This position requires working a variable schedule; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 27

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
