    Job Summary:


    The Hummingbird Program Manager position is primarily responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of operations in the classroom and at healthcare sites.

    This includes teaching-related bootcamp and programming, implementation of experiential learning, academic enrichment and mentoring, coordination of wellness support, and facilitation of professional development workshops.


    This position is responsible for communication with students and their families, and program partners such as teachers, school administrators, and health industry contacts.

    Each program manager will teach the Hummingbird course at one participating school and support students through their transition to their next step in the pipeline.


    In collaboration with office staff, the Hummingbird Program Manager will also coordinate the day-to-day operations of the site; including planning, implementing and coordination of the program, developing educational sessions/workshops that will lead to successful entrance and graduation from college.

    These positions will be term-limited (2-year grant) with the hope of sustainable funding. These six positions will be housed within different sites throughout Colorado (Alamosa; Fort Morgan; Trinidad; Metro Denver; and Aurora).

    Key Responsibilities:

    Pathway Programming
    :

    Manage the day-to-day operations of the Hummingbird program at individual high school sites and act as a consistent mentor and caring adult for Hummingbird students

    Maintain daily oversight and evaluation of Hummingbird students including assessment of mental health and social challenges at baseline and at repeated times throughout the year, and other additional assessments/evaluations for academic achievement

    Work with key stakeholders to develop, coordinate, maintain and evaluate work-based learning internships for Hummingbird students, and ensure the program is well integrated with other available programs


    Schedules, facilitates, and teaches workshops for students focused on professional development, college preparation, wellness, leadership, critical thinking, health equity, and other pertinent topics.

    Coordinates Hummingbird events including the Blue Coat Ceremony, Graduation, field trips and other events (online and in-person when possible).

    Responsible for recruiting students, providing training to prepare for internships, and coordinating all necessary

    steps for onboarding

    into work-based learning .

    General Operational Management (20%)

    Responds to in-person, written, and telephone requests from students, applicants, colleagues, high school personnel, and university personnel.

    Answer straightforward questions where possible and provide information about the University, the offices, its programs, deadlines, processes, etc.

    Maintain and organizes adequate documentation, including, but not limited to, student and alumni information, curriculum, and evaluation.


    Assist in managing all aspects of day-to-day operations of the offices by fostering effective service delivery, scheduling meetings/space, helping plan office events, managing incoming and outgoing mail, etc.

    Office Technology Support (20%)

    Manage technology needs for office personnel.

    Manage online forms and surveys through FormStack, Qualtrics and other university platforms.

    Manage Office Pipeline/Pathway Participation DataBase through the RedCap platform and other platforms.

    Support Unit's efforts Health Careers Pathways Hub.

    Assist with managing the websites and communication between all on-campus/off-campus stakeholders.

    Additional related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum
    Qualifications:


    Bachelor's degree in education, communication, sociology, ethnic studies, women and gender studies, psychology, health sciences, physical sciences, public administration, higher education, counseling, hospitality, art, human services, student affairs, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

    Substitution :

    A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.


    At least four (4) years of professional level experience working in behavioral health, health sciences, community engagement, healthcare or education.

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Condition of Employment:


    This is a hybrid work schedule which consists of 2-3 days per week at the high school site and as-needed for in-person meetings.

    Preferred
    Qualifications:

    A Master's Degree in K-12 Education, Higher Education, Counseling Education, Social Work, Student Affairs, Public Health, or a related field

    Experience providing case management services and advising students with the college admissions and financial aid application process

    Cultural and language congruence and experience with youth from similar lived experiences

    Experience working in higher education, middle schools, pre-collegiate programs, and community-based organizations or closely related professional settings

    Experience working with high school-aged youth and underrepresented, high-risk populations

    Experience mentoring employees or volunteers

    Experience with evaluation and data management

    Bilingual (Spanish Preferred)

    Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Fundamental knowledge of career pathway programs, their importance, and how they serve as a bridge to support the mission of the institution

    Ability to understand and apply student development models to the success of students interested in the sciences and health professions

    Ability to manage multiple types of relationships in professional, educational and outreach settings including moving effortlessly between relationships with students and families, educators, and health professionals

    General knowledge of current health care delivery systems, both hospital-based and community-based as well as general knowledge of careers and pathways for health, public health, mental and behavioral health, and global health

    Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity, equity and inclusion

    Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem solving skills

    Knowledge of youth participatory action research practices

    Knowledge of critical pedagogy and health equity

    Dependability, integrity and passion for working with high school-aged youth

    The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
