Location: Galveston, Texas

Job Type: Part-time & Floater (PRN)

Shift Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 5:00pm - 10:00pm and On-Call Friday, 5:00pm - 10:00pm

Position Type: Part-Time / Non-Exempt

The Crisis Intervention Specialist at RCC in Galveston serves as an advocate and case manager for sexual assault victims. They provide hospital and law enforcement accompaniment, respond in-person and by phone to victims, and ensure access to reliable transportation for medical accompaniment. This crucial role requires compassion, professionalism, and strong communication skills.

Job Summary

The Crisis Intervention Specialist performs vital tasks to aid sexual assault victims, including medical accompaniment, providing support forms, assisting in recovery plans, and offering trauma-informed interventions. They maintain detailed records, offer court accompaniment, and provide essential information to supervisors. Additionally, they conduct educational groups and share expertise on crisis intervention techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Provide medical accompaniment for sexual assault victims
Respond promptly to hospital calls
Help clients develop recovery plans and provide trauma-informed interventions
Maintain detailed records and complete required documentation
Offer court accompaniment and diagnostic evaluations
Participate in educational events and conduct training sessions
Build relationships with other agencies and develop resource databases
Perform any other assigned duties

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
Valid state-issued driver's license
CPR and First Aid Certification
Minimum three years of work experience in social services
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Knowledge of crisis intervention, victim's rights, and trauma-informed theory
Ability to establish rapport, maintain boundaries, and handle psychological crises
Must maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor
