Job Description:
SEnergy is seeking a full-time GIS Technician (Entry Level) in its Cypress (Houston) office.This position is a great opportunity for GIS professionals looking to develop and share their ArcGIS database and related computer technology skills to enhance processes related to the natural gas distribution industry. This is primarily an office position within the Engineering Group.Up to 5 percent travel to DFW Metroplex, Houston, and Austin areas may be required on occasion.

You will utilize the latest ESRI software, gain experience in an enterprise GIS environment, learn about the natural gas industry, acquire new skills, and help SEnergys Business Development, Engineering and Construction, and Operations divisions make better and faster decisions.
The ideal candidate must be a team-oriented, attentive to detail, organized, out-of-the-box thinker open to professional development.
Position Requirements:
Compile and convert spatial and non-spatial data from various sources to digital format e.g. scan documents, digitize scanned maps and engineering plans and otherwise geo-reference spatial data
Read and interpret maps and drawings e.g. easements, plats, engineering plans, and as-builts
Create, edit, manipulate GIS data and ensure GIS data integrity and reliability
Perform spatial analysis and modeling
Create maps, charts, and other visualizations to communicate spatial information and analysis results effectively
Provide technical assistance and support for Engineering Groups projects, applications, and data
Occasional outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions
Explore new methods, technologies, and applications for spatial data and analysis
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree in GIS or related field with courses in GIS
Sound understanding of GIS principles, coordinate projections, relational database concepts and spatial analysis
Proficiency using ArcPro and Microsoft software including Word and Excel
Knowledge of Model Builder, Python, SQL preferred
Familiarity with mapping, surveying, and engineering practices preferred
No supervisory experience necessary
Relevant GIS course work will be considered in lieu of work experience
