    Description

    CONMED is looking for an Embedded Electrical Engineer II to join the Research and Development team based in Largo, FL. The engineer will develop embedded software for various medical platforms, apply engineering design principles to sustaining projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and support advanced surgical devices used in orthopedic and arthroscopic surgery products.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Detailed design, analysis, and testing of electrical components and controls considering performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability
    • Embedded software development for medical device firmware components
    • Contribution to electronics hardware and firmware designs using version control systems
    • Maintenance of legacy codebase projects
    • General design activities including requirements management and tolerance analyses
    • Optimization of medical instrument firmware and troubleshooting
    • Driving sustaining engineering activities and product improvement
    • Assistance in designing electronic circuits and PCB layouts

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
    • 2+ years of relevant work experience
    • Firmware (embedded software) experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with software and hardware motor control for brushless motors and analog sensors
    • Hands-on experience in an electronics lab setting
    • Understanding of control theory and real-time control functionality implementation
    • Knowledge of FDA and ISO guidelines for medical device development
    • Experience with Version Control, Issue Tracking, Eclipse-based IDEs, and CAD tools such as Altium
    • Familiarity with analog and digital electrical engineering

    0-20% travel may be required for this position

    This position does not qualify for employer-based sponsorship

    The annual salary range for this position is $70,000 to $110,000, subject to variations based on location, experience, education, and skill level.
