This role is responsible for applying advanced systems engineering knowledge to support NPD, sustaining, and productivity designs that have high complexity.
This role will be heavily involved in advanced development, system architecture, and platform development for new product development projects.This role has the technical ability to combine existing and new technology, both internal and with partners, to build large products.
Additionally, this role will be responsible for maintaining engineering quality by mentoring other engineers, peer reviewing designs, and, as needed, formal design review.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (in descending order of percentage of time required):Research technology and prototype new technology that support the lines of business product portfolio
Define and generate documentation for system architecture in new product development platforms
Estimate time, resources and cost complete New Product Development deliverable and ensure completion to estimates
Mentor other engineers, interns, and apprentices by reviewing work product and giving technical feedback
Maintain engineering technical quality by reviewing designs and participating, as needed, in Formal Design Reviews
Lead failure analysis and problem solving tactics by using Six Sigma design practices
Create SFMEA, DFMEAs, and 8Ds using Chamberlain's quality tools.
Lead failure analysis and problem solving tactics by using Six Sigma design practices
Analyze network data to evaluate connectivity
Design system architecture from cloud to connected products with complex system diagrams
Test and troubleshoot complex systems that incorporate complex and simple products in a connected environment.
Build prototypes incorporating existing and COTS components while using basic project management skills.
Write technical documentation like specifications and test reports to support project deliverables.
Conduct peer review for product design by acting as the technical reviewer on ECNs.
Develop NPD project schedules by utilizing Microsoft Project.
Responsible for complying with the security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the established ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities Document found in the ISMS Document Library
Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams
Protect CGI's reputation by keeping information confidential
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed Supervision Exercised (this section should be filled out when an employee has supervisory responsibilities)
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering , mechanical engineering, software engineering, computer science or relevant technical field and minimum of ten (10) years of job-related experience strongly preferred; or minimum of fourteen (14) years of job-related experience as defined in the Essential Duties & Responsibilities; an advanced degree in directly applicable area of study may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience,
Six Sigma Green Belt certification strongly preferred; or commitment to obtain certification within eighteen (18) months of date of hire or promotion
10+ years of job-related experience with Bachelor's degree in systems, software or electrical engineering
Able to travel up to 25% - domestically and internationally Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in software or electrical engineering; Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Experience with connected products, routers, switches, databases, electro-mechanical systems, and PCs; experience with wireless communication standards like WiFi or Bluetooth; experience with product safety standards for Chamberlain products like UL325, UL294 and IEC60335; experience with EMC regulatory standards for Chamberlain products like FCC, ETSI and ANZ4268
Ability to lead a team of engineers to create connected electromechanical products; strong analytical skills; ability to efficiently communicate to all levels of organization or outside partners; good presentation skills
