- Assist the Registered Nurse as needed.
- Provide basic first aid and care until the nurse, parent, or EMS arrives to assume responsibility for care.
- Assist with student self administration of medication in accordance with GISD policy and DOH guidelines.
- Document health information, as indicated by the school nurse, in the student health record.
- Documentation is accurate, timely, and when hand written legible.

Job Description
SUMMARY
To assist the registered nurse in providing health services for students and staff in the Gadsden Independent School District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
Provides basic first-aid and emergency care to students and staff as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Assists with medication administration
Maintains current certification in CPR and First Aid.
Attends trainings and in service programs as assigned or needed.
Attends staff meetings and notifies the Director of Nursing and Health Services when unable to attend.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
