    Job DescriptionSummary of Job Purpose

    The fee collector's primary responsibility is to check guests in and out of the campground. The fee collector also explains the layout and location of various facilities and directs guests to their campsites. This position is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    This job description is intended as a summary of the primary responsibilities of and the qualifications for the position.     Each day you will have specific work to perform which includes the following:

    1. Check guests in and out, using the guidelines that are provided.
    2. Learn and utilize the National Reservation System.
    3. Explain the campground layout and direct guests to campsites.
    4. Perform required compliance checks.
    5. Ensure all camp records up to date – i.e., daily counts, checking in and out of guests, up-to-date compliance checks, and daily records of incidents or problems.
    6. Sell retail items from the kiosk such as firewood and ice
    7. Give accurate information concerning the location of the facilities at the campgrounds.
    8. Operate vehicles in and out of the campgrounds.
    9. Use and care of radio equipment.
    10. Requires you to clock yourself in and out properly.
    11. Comply with daily cash handling procedures.

    Somewhat unpredictable circumstances will determine how much of your work day will involve these types of activities. Many of these tasks may require some manual labor.

    1. Maintaining clean work stations, including washing windows, cleaning and emptying trash.
    2. Sweeping or washing down the outside of the booth.
    3. Picking up litter.
    4. Maintain break areas.
    Job Qualifications
    • Ability to work with others, be well groomed and present a good public image. Ability to work with a diverse public and to provide quality customer service.
    • Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and written. Must possess strong conflict resolution skills.
    • Must possess a general knowledge of accounting principles.
    • Working knowledge of and ability to implement the National Recreation Reservation Service system.
    • Ability to effectively use computers for word and data processing and records management. Experience with and the ability to operate Microsoft Office software, including Excel, is required. Must possess skill in using computers and other office equipment; in composing correspondence; managing filing systems; gathering and summarizing information; and in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and executing complicated and continuing assignments.
    • Possess ability to multi-task, work independently, trouble shoot and prioritize.
    • Safe working habits at all times and strict adherence to the Dodge Ridge Safety Policies.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects with weights up to and in excess of 50 lbs, and to perform routine cleaning tasks.
    • Good manual and physical dexterity and good physical fitness.
    • Be punctual, honest, trustworthy and possess good judgment
    • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program.

    Work Schedules

    Weather conditions and the number of guests in the campgrounds have a great deal of influence in the scheduling of campground employees. When conditions are normal, you can expect to work up to 40 hours a week. During the busy periods you may be expected to work overtime if needed. You can expect to work most weekends and holidays when the campgrounds are open, evening shifts may also be required. You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive to your work station at your scheduled time.

    Working Conditions

    Fee collectors are often required to perform their tasks in bad weather. High winds, heavy snow fall, low visibility, rain and extremely cold or warm temperatures, are just some of the weather conditions that you should expect to encounter during the camping season.

    Uniforms

    To project a professional appearance at Dodge Ridge, your department requires a uniform be worn, including a nametag. Please wear both at all times during your scheduled shift.

    We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. (We strongly encourage you to contact your supervisor for a description of the quality, color, and style of the items you are required to provide before you purchase them.)

    Dodge Ridge will provide:

    1. Campground shirt
    2. Name tag
    3. Radio (you will check out a radio each day and be responsible for it)

    You must provide:

    1. Watch
    2. Sun Glasses
    3. Warm clothing for working in cold conditions.
    4. Cool clothing for working in warm conditions.
    5. Sunscreen
    6. Boots (warm)
    7. Gloves (warm)
