    Description
    Job Summary: The Nurse Aide under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN is delegated assignments by the RN to achieve quality patient care. He/she is involved in the implementation phase of the nursing process and is organizationally accountable to the Director of Nursing. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide technical care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to collect data and relays appropriate data to nurse and to provide the care needed.

    Performance Expectations
    • Performs the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks such as, but not limited to turning and moving patients and equipment by utilizing safety measure for the patient and yourself.
    • Performs the ability to tolerate high and low temperatures to accommodate the comfort of patients.
    • Performs the ability to troubleshoot equipment/devices needed for patient care when operational function is impaired.
    • Performs the aptitude for safely positioning and lifting patients as necessary.
    • Ability to perform/complete Activities of daily living for patient care, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, repositioning, obtaining accurate vital signs, feeding and ambulating patients.
    • Accepts tasks assigned by LPN or RN and completes to exceed patients expectations.
    • Responds promptly to call lights and assist the patient as needed in a timely manner.
    • Performs assigned activities with the Swing Bed patients on a daily basis and prn.
    • Manages time during shift to deliver quality patient care to the patients.
    • Complete walking rounds with oncoming shift at shift change while receiving report. Makes rounds every two hours and PRN on all patients and report any complaints/concerns noted.
    • Ensures that an accurate report is given at shift change to the nurse aide who will be providing continued patient care of the patients she/he is currently assigned.
    • Arrives on time for shift and accepts report on assigned patients in a timely manner.
    • Delivery and pickup of meal trays during meal time and accurately record the amount consumed.
    • Attend all mandatory staff meetings and educational events.
    • Report to work during emergency operational events, if contacted to do so.
    • Keep patient rooms tidy and clean and free of clutter.
    • Deliver care with respect and always maintain confidentiality of the patient and dignity.
    • Utilize the We C.A.R.E. philosophy of JDCH.
    • Stores equipment in the equipment room when not in use by a patient, i.e. BSCC, Positioning pillows, etc.
    • Performs water temperature checks every 24 hours and records in temperature log
    • Delivers Ice to Patient Rooms daily and PRN
    • Performs any and all other duties assigned.
    Qualifications:

    Education/Skills

    Diploma/GED recommended

    Work Experience:

    Previous aide employment preferred with passage of nurse aide skills test, required

    Certification/Licensure-

    Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
    • Basic Life Support
    Within 30 Days of Employment
