    Purpose:

    The Director of Finance, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for fulfilling all regulatory, legal, and reporting requirements imposed by federal, state, and local governments and meeting accounting guidelines and standards specific to the nonprofit industry.

    Responsibilities will include developing, implementing, and modifying accounting systems and controls. Performs business analysis work, which includes documentation of user requirements, creating business processes, and post-implementation support.

    May supervise the work of others and works under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment.

    This position would compose the entirety of the financial department at this small non-profit and needs someone who is self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks.

    Responsibilities
    Preparation of Financial Reports
    Monthly closing of the books
    Provide accurate and timely financial information
    Complete the financial section of the RAR's and other state required financial reports
    Oversight of account payable and receivables
    Allocation of expenditures to appropriate account codes, classes and funding sources
    Reconcile bank accounts monthly
    Develop effective internal control procedures
    Manages invoicing procedures for both incoming and outgoing funds
    Review contracts
    Revenue tracking
    Entry and processing of payroll and gather timesheets for approval
    Evaluate and recommend internal controls
    Determination of growth strategies
    Expand access to resources
    Cash Flow analysis
    Analyzes the effect of transactions on the account relationships and evaluates alternative means of treating transactions
    Variance analysis on program expenses
    Grant analysis
    Monitor grant expenditures and project related expenses
    Prepare the financial section of grant proposals
    Business Analysis
    Provides complex quality assurance consultation; coordinates and develops business processes; and oversees the automated financial systems.
    Establishes long range objectives and specifies strategies and actions to achieve them related to the financial department.
    May lead or participate in developing corrective action plans for projects determined to be out of compliance.
    Budgeting
    Short and long term budgeting and forecasting
    Budget review, preparation of annual budget
    Internal Audits
    Preparation and coordination of appropriate internal and external audits.
    Transparent reporting and ability to communicate complex ideas in a variety of methods.
    Human Resource
    Human Resource procedures and regulations.

    Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, Certified non-profit accounting professional, CPA helpful
    Solutions based critical thinking; problem detection and problem solving using sound judgment
    Analytic and forecasting skills
    Ability to explain financial information using effective communication skills
    Knowledge of non-profit accounting procedures
    Familiarity with federally funded programs and knowledge of fund accounting
    Experience in networking and working with diverse populations
    Strong working knowledge of data software and Microsoft Office Suite
    Detailed oriented, organized with strong follow-up skills
    Ability to travel in-town (10%)
    Ability to travel out-of-town (10%)
    Knowledge of, and commitment to, the Independent Living movement, and philosophy
