- Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc.
- Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
- Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Administers medication as prescribed.
- Delivers patient care competently.
- Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic, time of discharge, and continued care via phone triage.
- Informs patient and family of clinic procedures.
- Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients, family, etc.
- Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegates tasks to support staff.
- Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient follow up activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
