    Job Summary:The Ultrasound Technologist, also known as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, is a healthcare professional responsible for performing ultrasound examinations to create images for medical diagnosis. They use specialized equipment to capture images of internal organs, tissues, and blood flow, aiding physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Patient Interaction: Greet and interview patients to obtain relevant medical history and address any concerns.
    • Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients, ensuring their comfort and cooperation during examinations.
    • Equipment Operation: Operate ultrasound equipment to capture images of various organs and structures within the body.
    • Adjust and control settings on the ultrasound machine to obtain high-quality images.
    • Image Interpretation: Analyze and interpret ultrasound images, recognizing normal and abnormal anatomy and documenting findings for physician review.
    • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information.
    • Diagnostic Procedures: Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, vascular, and musculoskeletal studies.
    • Use Doppler ultrasound to assess blood flow and detect abnormalities.
    • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and accuracy of ultrasound images through proper positioning, technique, and equipment calibration.
    • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on ultrasound equipment.
    • Patient Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including information on procedures performed, images obtained, and any relevant observations.
    • Input data into electronic health records and other information systems.
    • Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and sterile environment during ultrasound procedures.
    • Follow infection control measures to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
    • Continuing Education: Stay informed about advancements in ultrasound technology and techniques.
    • Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Compliance: Sonographers are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required trainings, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.

    Qualifications:
    • Associate or bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.
    • Certification from a recognized accrediting body, such as the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
    • At least one year of hospital experience
    • Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
    • Current Annual Health Clearance
    • Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
    • Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
