    SUMMARY


    The Post-Graduate Second Year (PGY-2) Specialty Pharmacy Practice Resident will develop expertise in a specialized area of pharmacy practice beyond that afforded the one-year general pharmacy practice resident.


    The PGY-2 resident will have responsibility for the total pharmaceutical care of patients in the specialized area of practice and will become competent in the diagnosis and assessment of disease, drug therapy, application of clinical skills and overall management of patients treated in the area of specialty.


    This resident will develop an expertise commensurate with that of a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist and be capable of influencing the selection and monitoring of medication based on sound clinical principles and communicates the knowledge of drugs and drug therapy to physicians and other health care providers to improve patient outcome.


    The PGY-2 resident will: engage in activities which support the goals of the department and health system; perform a medication use evaluation in the specialty area of practice; assist in staff development and education of health care providers; design and execute a research project; submit a minimum of two articles for publication in a peer-reviewed journal; assist in the training of PGY-1 pharmacy practice residents and pharmacy doctorate students; and perform other activities as directed by Department Director or Residency Director.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from accredited School of Pharmacy
    • Successful completion of an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice
    • Residency within the last twelve months of application for this position
    • Licensure in the State of Georgia (or eligible for licensure within 120 days through reciprocity or exam)
