Responsibilities

  • Patient Registration including Patient Identification verification enter patient demographics insurance information guarantor PCP ordering provider order tests enter diagnostic codes ordering provider following established policies procedures patient identification verification registration test orders medical necessity document scanning Manage Advanced Beneficiary Notice ABNSN obtaining supporting diagnostic codes document review patient signature document management scanning Performs related clerical activities medical necessity follow-up sorts files records daily checklists answering phones report delivery receiving patient clinical treatment area monitors standing orders expiration renewals confirming tasks followed completion Provides patient forms test gives instructions special preparation necessary prior specimen collection test appointment May contact additional information complete records Monitors Workbrain for phlebotomists Reviews Kronos reports manager monitor overtime badging patterns Reviews timekeeping records entry hours attendance regular basis Reports incidents missing start end times consistent early late badging Under direction Outreach Manager monitors attendance Records unscheduled absences tardiness Ensures staff follows department call protocol Reports issues manager follow Works manager ensure accuracy completeness payroll records Submits payroll approval manager Reviews processes mileage expenses phlebotomy team sign off manager Monitors Document Imaging checks required documents scanned properly makes necessary corrections updates files Routinely reviews issues staff members retrain as necessary Works cooperatively Customer Service conduct random audits Attends meetings pertaining Document Imaging requested Monitors RQI reviews phlebotomists work lists ensure making corrections clearing work lists timely basis makes necessary corrections RQI Reports system issues chronic problems manager Attends meetings pertaining RQI requested Tracks errors notifies provides constructive feedback staff Works cooperatively coach retrain as necessary Acts liaison physicians VNA their staff answer inquiries resolve problems Patient Service Centers PSCs Home Draw Department phaebotomists Regularly assists phlebothmics performs duties phaebotomist Understands adheres hospital department policies procedures included but not limited Phelobotomy Administrative manuals May make rounds clinical unit assure samples obtained trouble shoot problems locating missing samples draws blood samples missed those phaebotmist difficulty obtaining Performs coagulation tests bleeding times May perform certain waived laboratory tests defined clinical Laboratory Improvement Act Rhode Island State Licensure Such testing may include dipstick tablet urinalysis fecal occult blood visual color comparison analysis ovulation pregnancy blood glucose glucose monitoring devices cholesterol test Participates interviewing selection phaebtomis provides input performance evaluations Trains new phaebtomis medical technologist students areas performance standards hospital departamental policies procedures customer service patent identification verfication registration test orders speciemens requirments venipuncture fingerstick techniques speciemens processing tracking speciemen rejection supplies patent service center operations Updates maintains New Hire Outreach Training Manual Registration Manual Float Manual Maintains recods variety statistics such as payroll workload program activites training reports Performs related clerical activities sorting filing recods receving patent clinic/treatment area interviewing patint obtain insurance biographical mediacal information complete record EDUCATION High school diploma GED required Phelobotmy certifice National Accreditng Agency Clinical Laboratory Sciences completiion Pelobotomy certificate program include formal internship demonstrating successful venipuncturues In lieu internship six month pelobtomic experiance considered In lieu pelobtomic certifacation five plus year direcct peolbtmic experiance considdered EXPERIENCE Minimum five years peolbtmic experiance requrired Ability perform veneupuncture tecniques capillary punctuer on adults children infants Interpersonnal skills obtin provide informatoin patents explain procedure efectivley allay fears anxiety Demonstrated knowledge skill necesary provid care patients considring aging procesess human devlopment stags cultual patterins each step care
