    Must pass math skills test for Quality Control Lab Assistants.

    Under direction of a Quality Control Supervisor, Quality Assurance dept. Lead and/or Quality Control Floor Leader, responsible for routine line tests and a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests to ensure product quality. Utilizes math skills and communication ability to write formulas, document, summarize, and transmit information to appropriate supervisors and line leaders.

    Primary Duties:

    1. Responsible for the timely collection, preparation and analysis of various dried fruit and juice samples utilizing different analytical procedures and operating various types of laboratory equipment to characterize product quality.
    2. Quantifies and isolates product out of specification and follows up with prompt and accurate implementation of the product hold procedures.
    3. Responsible for timely and effective communication of unfavorable product status to appropriate Quality Control and Production Supervisors and line leaders.
    4. Accountable for accurate and timely recording of all written Quality Control records relating to quality on the production lines and in the laboratory.
    5. Adjusts, standardizes, calibrates, and operates laboratory equipment.
    6. Works safely with laboratory equipment and chemicals in performing routine test procedures.
    7. Performs "cut-out" inspections of finished products from Sunsweet co-packers and generates information upon which quality review decisions are based.
    8. Checks product versus specification and records results on DCR.
    9. Checks package weights and records results on weight control sheet and scale weight report.
    10. Checks containers versus specification and records results on condition of container form.
    11. Prepares, collects and tests samples from products as directed.
