    Description


    Primary PurposeThe Principal Accountant will support Sempra Infrastructure business entities and projects and is responsible for performing high level, complex financial and accounting assignments and related analysis.

    Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerforms the month-end close process including preparing, posting and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned Sempra Infrastructure business entities and projects.

    Performs tasks related to various financial analysis and reporting, including but not limited to reviewing and understanding complex financial issues, preparing income statements, balance sheets and cash flows, explaining variances to actuals and to plan, and maintaining appropriate financial documentation for compliance.

    Ensures accurate financial data is presented.
    Provides leadership support during month-end close to the team.
    Interacts and collaborates with internal departments by providing accounting expertise and guidance.
    Prepares and reviews project cost reports and project cost analysis.
    Initiates process improvement and drives change by providing recommendations concerning operational and accounting issues as needed.

    Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, finance, economics or related business administration field.8+ years experiences in Public and/or professional accounting experience.

    Must have strong financial accounting and reporting knowledge and skills.
    Strong knowledge of GAAP.Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to details.
    Highly proficient in identifying issues, analyzing data, developing, recommending and implementing solutions.
    Results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.
    Ability to process transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
    Provide leadership, mentorship, guidance and support to staff.
    Must have the ability to work independently and with moderate guidance from management.
    Must possess initiative, strong decision-making skills and problem solving abilities.
    Must be flexible and able to switch quickly from one task to another when dictated by business needs.
    Must be willing to put forth additional effort and work extra hours when critical tasks arise.
    Effectively interact and communicate with others.
    Must have a positive and can-do attitude.

    Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Accounting, finance, economics or related business administration field (MBA).CPA, CMA, MBA and/or other professional certifications/advanced degrees.

    Working knowledge of Microsoft AX and Hyperion Financial Management is desirable.
