    Description

    Lafayette College is committed to enriching the learning experience for all members of the campus community by cultivating and supporting a diverse and inclusive community. The Assistant Director of Intercultural Development/Coordinator of Gender and Sexuality Programs is a full-time position that oversees the Colleges support services for students who identify with historically marginalized groups based on gender or sexuality. The Assistant Director/Coordinator will offer co-curricular programming to advance knowledge, awareness, and skills related to gender and sexuality. The Assistant Director/Coordinator serves as a resource to students and manages the GSP student hub. Gender and Sexuality Programs is a unit within the Office of Intercultural Development in the Division of Campus Life. This position reports to the Director of Intercultural Development.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    Strong commitment to and knowledge of issues related to the promotion of equity, inclusion, social justice, and sex-positivity, particularly in higher education contexts
    Demonstrated understanding of intersectionality framework(s)
    Contribute to all history/heritage month programs for the campus and coordinate efforts with the Womens, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, Gateway Career Center, Alumni Relations, etc. and other academic departments to plan and implement educational and social programming in celebration of marginalized communities (Native American and American Indian, disability justice, Black communities and their diaspora, etc.). This includes programming related to relevant heritage and history months (i.e., Latinx Heritage Month, Queer History Month, Transgender Awareness Month, Black Heritage Month, Womens History Month, etc.) and other relevant holidays and observances
    Coordinate events and programs for students, faculty, and staff related to the LGBTQ+ community (e.g. education, advocacy, discussion groups, etc)
    Provide Safe Zone training for faculty and staff and hire, coach, manage and advise the Safe Zone Peer Educators
    Maintain Safe Zone training curriculum for faculty, staff, and students
    Research and implement new culturally relevant information in order to maintain an up-to-date curriculum
    Develop student mentoring and advising relationships through formal and/or informal interactions.
    Have knowledge of/be aware/and willing to be trained on PrEP, PEP, other related sex health information and STI-prevention specific to the LGBTQ+ community
    Participate in the Colleges On-Call Emergency Response team
    Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Provide support and advising to one or more student groups; attend meetings and advise on matters involving program development

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Masters degree in Student Development, Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, Counseling, LGBT Studies, Womens, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, or a closely related area.
    Bachelors degree in Psychology, Sexuality Studies, LGBT Studies, Womens Gender, and Sexuality Studies, or a closely related area
    Experience supervising undergraduate students, graduate students, or other related roles
    2-3 years of experience programming in areas related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
    2-3 years of training, consulting, or curriculum development experience
    Evidence of the development, execution, and assessment of educational programs.
    Awareness of and sensitivity to issues affecting the queer community.
    Flexibility to perform duties regularly on evenings and weekends
