They administer medications, IV fluids, and artificial nutrition as part of their duties. Working closely with families, doctors, and healthcare professionals, PICU RNs play a vital role in devising the most effective patient care strategies for successful recovery. Their workplace is the pediatric intensive care unit, a dedicated space in hospitals for the treatment of critically ill young patients. PICU RNs may also be required to assist in the Peds unit, a pediatric equivalent to a Med Surg division in an adult medical setup.
