    Description

    Civil Engineer Position at Loudoun Water

    Loudoun Water, a public water and sewer utility based in Ashburn, Virginia, is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join their Land Development department.

    The selected candidate will act as the representative of Loudoun Water in interactions with various stakeholders, both internal and external. This will involve engaging with developers, landowners, engineers, consultants, contractors, and the general public. The role will encompass working on a diverse range of development projects that cover planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of public water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems and infrastructure.

    Responsibilities of the Civil Engineer include guiding assigned projects through entitlement, permitting, design, construction, and approval development phases.


    Essential functions:

    • Conducting engineering reviews of residential, commercial, multi-family, and industrial projects initiated by Developers
    • Assessing County referrals and coordinating information internally within Loudoun Water
    • Collaborating with inspection and field personnel to resolve construction-related issues
    • Ensuring that construction design plans adhere to Loudoun Water standards, specifications, design guidelines, and regulatory requirements
    • Examining engineering design and calculations as well as construction costs
    • Engaging with the public to address inquiries and provide information about Loudoun Water's system and processes
    • Supplying the public with flow information and arranging flow tests essential for fire flow requests

    Requirements:

    The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field. Relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree. Experience in land development, project management, design, and/or construction of water and wastewater projects is highly preferred. Although not mandatory, being a registered Engineer-in-Training is advantageous.
