    Primary scheduled hours: 40 hours per pay period - variable shifts


    Job Summary:


    Under the supervision of the Nutritional Services Director or Supervisor, the Cafeteria Worker performs a variety of food services, including serving food to employees and visitors.

    Also is responsible for the clean-up and stocking of the cafeteria and food preparation areas. Performs basic food preparation in food production areas. (Includes job titles such as Salad Maker, Vegetable Preparer, Cook's Helper, Dessert Preparer, etc.)

    • Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of: 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV
    • 15 providers Rural Health Clinic
    • 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility
    • 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility.
    Education Background and Experience


    Minimum Education:
    High School graduate or equivalent


    Required Licensure / Certifications:
    Food & Beverage Card


    Required Experience:
    Typically requires some food service training or experience.

    • Maintain regulatory requirements.
    • Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines.
    • Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District.
    • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
    Essential Job Functions


    • Maintains serving line in a clean, neat and organized manner; requests replenishments as needed.
    • Serves hot and cold food on serving lines to visitors and employees.
    • Replenishes the salad bar and keeps it clean.
    • Replenishes silverware, napkins, cups straws, condiments, etc.
    • Makes coffee; ensures coffee machines stay full.
    • Ensures all beverage containers are full, i.e., soda, ice tea, juices.
    • Wipes down tables and chairs in the cafeteria throughout the day with a hospital-approved cleaner.
    • Clears any soiled dishes, trash from tables.
    • Clears soiled dishes/trays; scrapes refuse into garbage containers; loads dishes/trays onto cleaning racks; rinses dishes/utensils.

    Compensation/How We Care For You:


    Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($ $22.66/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
