You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty in the code base yourself while building a team of A-players. Ideal candidates will have worked with utilities and or power companies in your recent past.

Position Summary

The CTO will work hand-in-hand with the CEO and guide and develop a world class hardware and software engineering team focused on continual improvement, product and services expansion into new and existing enterprise markets. Fostering efficiency and environmental stewardship is at the core of the mission and product offering.

You will utilize your significant and recent background in ML and Data Science, as well as ideally AI and Iot to guide the organization through next phases of growth.

Extra points for expertise in Utilities, Oil and Gas Infrastructure and regulatory arenas.

The Role:

• Mentor and grow an industry leading engineering and analytics and data-science team, expanding technical capability and technical prowess.
• Utilize Machine Learning tools to improve decision making for internal and external clients alike.
• Emphasize predictive analytics tools as a core component of cutting edge software tools.
• Attract and retain engineers that align with mission and values to foster a happy and productive engineering culture.
• Cooperatively develop company technology and product roadmap, creating a clear technical vision, focusing and inspiring staff and develop next generation product offerings for growing list of enterprise clients.
• Responsibility for the prioritization, budgeting, and planning of Internal Research and Development (IRAD) investments.
• Constantly assess the market landscape and conduct strategic planning efforts.
• Support marketing efforts through the creation of marketing collateral.
• Provide internal and external thought leadership on industry trends speaking at conferences, developing and sharing technical white papers, and articles.
• Cultivate relationships with academic, government, and industry technical thought leaders and partners.
• Lead the Technical Risk Management and Security programs.
• Oversee intellectual property efforts, creating and maintaining the IP strategy, prioritization, process, preparation and submission.
• In conjunction with the CEO, facilitate Board of Advisors and technical consultants.

Qualifications

Basic:

• Passion for making the world a better place using technology.
• Proven omain experience in application of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and/or Internet of Things (IoT).
• Broad knowledge of industry best practices in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Testing, and Project Management.
• Excellent face-to-face communication and management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, at industry conferences, shareholders, and internally with employees.
• Demonstrated experience in fast-paced startup environments
• Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or deep experience in related fields.

Preferred:

• PhD in Engineering, Science, or related field
• Experience in obtaining and holding technical patents
• Deep experience leading a fast paced engineering organization with primary emphasis on ML and predictive analytics.
• Deep experience developing best practices, and KPI's around engineering processes, systems, and tools
• Experience with design, fabrication, test, and operation and security of systems and networks for Iot related hardware and software
• Comfortable with fundraising and speaking to business and technical audiences alike

Location & Travel Requirements

The ideal candidate would be permanently located in Western Colorado but hybrid arrangements with an ability and willingness to travel regularly to headquarters and to customers, meetings etc. will be considered. Front range Colorado candidates that can jump on a plane are acceptable or those within direct flights of Western Colorado.

Typical travel to Headquarters in Western Colorado is approximately twice per month for 2- 3 days and to Client site and industry events 2-3 times per Quarter.

Compensation

This role is currently slated in the k base range with bonus and strong equity stake. As you help to ensure that technology and revenue goals are met within 6-9 months, base and bonus will be revisited. Some relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.
