    Job Description

    The Logistics Specialist is responsible to coordinate and schedule all the outgoing products via truck, rail, barge, and ocean vessel with freight contractors and working with the Supply Chain Manager/Production Planning to pay special attention to the capacity of the stock and the dock facilities. Tracking and optimizing demurrage for freight contracts, enforcing contract agreements, and providing updates on contract performance is within the realm of the Logistics Specialist. This person observes all safety and environmental procedures required for compliant plant operations.

    Tasks & Responsibilities:
    • Knows, understands, and follows all Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements
    • Develops and implements shipping and receiving procedures for trucking and rail transportation of materials as needed.
    • Directs availability and allocation of outgoing products via truck, rail, barge, and vessel.
    • Maintains and develops positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in or directly relevant to a logistics activity.
    • Develops and implements a cost efficient logistic model for outbound shipments.
    • Assists in negotiations of freight contracts.
    • Assists in cost controlling and cost tracking
    • Assists with Documenting Inventory Management for CBP auditing.
    • Assists in the operation of a FTZ.
    • Acts as in-house broker on behalf of ArcelorMittal Texas HBI.
    • Observes all Safety and Environmental Policies.
    • Participates on special projects that have influence on SCM Department as required
    • Performs other duties assigned as needed
    Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in logistics or transportation preferred and/or equivalent
    • Freight Logistics or transportation experience preferred and/or equivalent
    • FTZ experience preferred
    • SAP user experience preferred
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
    • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
    • Must be capable of reviewing and interpreting complex documents and texts
    • Must be able to travel occasionally (up to 10%)
    • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC-card.
