    Across our portfolio of live event venues and corporate offices, we are looking for a Special Events Manager at the Broward County Convention Center.

    We are on the lookout for a skilled event planner who can oversee the entire process of event production, from the initial concept to the final execution, and uphold our standard for memorable events.

    The ideal candidate should be passionate, inventive, meticulous, and committed to delivering exceptional client service consistently.

    This position requires a professional with comprehensive expertise in organizing events, meetings, and conferences, including managing costs, selecting venues, arranging equipment, setting up rooms, and adhering to industry best practices.

    The individual must possess outstanding leadership qualities and the ability to assign tasks effectively to achieve high-quality outcomes.

    We are seeking an event planner who is adept at handling day-to-day specifics for large events while also applying a broader perspective to create truly unique experiences for a diverse clientele.

    Essential duties and Responsibilities

    • Lead the planning and execution of large-scale events (500 attendees), ensuring a memorable and seamless experience.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, logistics, costs, and resource allocation.
    • Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, objectives, and specific requirements for each event.
    • Source and manage relationships with vendors, venues, and contractors, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency.
    • Monitor event planning progress in the areas: logistics, including contract negotiations, managing guest lists, venue set-up, preparation of presentation materials, ensuring security, arranging catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, decor, and promotional materials to ensure seamless execution.
    • Develop and enhance relationships with suppliers, venue providers, and other key players in the industry, while designing and executing the creative and logistical elements of all events.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external partners to define event requirements, acting as the primary point of contact for high-level executives, government officials, and industry leaders during the event planning stage.
    • Stay abreast of, or ahead of, current trends in event planning, design, and production, and actively address operational challenges.
    • Source and assess resources, conduct site visits, and lead pre-event meetings to guide staff in making informed decisions regarding event design.
    • Manage client experiences from the initial concept to post-event evaluation, overseeing on-site arrangements, event production, and breakdown, while providing consistent, high-quality service at every stage.
    • Develop and maintain an extensive database of industry contacts, suppliers, and venues.
    • Address and resolve any problems that emerge on the day of the event.
    • Adhere to all legal, insurance, health, and safety guidelines consistently. Secure permits and licenses as required for specific events.
    • Conduct post-event evaluations to gather insights and improve future event planning and execution.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned.
    Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, or related field.
    • Experience in marketing or public relations.
    • Proven experience in event planning and management, particularly with large-scale events (500 attendees).Experience specific to convention centers, large venues, hotels, and F&B facilities is preferred.

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas, plans, and expectations to clients, vendors, and team members.
    • Ability to manage multiple facets of event planning and execution simultaneously, including timelines, vendors, and guest lists.
    • Precision in handling details crucial for the success of an event, from catering choices to seating arrangements and technical requirements.
    • Ability to negotiate contracts and terms with vendors and venues to achieve the best possible rates and services.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships and handle diverse personalities gracefully.
    • Creativity in event design, theme development, and problem-solving to create memorable experiences and overcome any challenges that arise.
    • Proficiency in creating and managing budgets, ensuring events stay within financial limits while meeting objectives.
    • Capability to work collaboratively with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to event planning and execution.
    • Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and consistently maintains a professional demeanor.
    • Understanding of the event planning industry, including trends, key players, and new technologies.
    Computer Skills

    • Operate and be proficient utilizing standard office equipment and personal computer(s) using Outlook, MS Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
    • Proficient with EMS or Cvent event management software.
