Our employer, a well-established law firm in West Palm Beach, FL is in search of a Chief Operating Officer who currently resides in the Palm Beach County metro region.
The RoleThe Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for driving the firm's operational excellence, strategic growth, and business innovation.
Reporting to the Managing Partner, the COO translates leadership's vision into actionable plans, scalable systems, and measurable results.This role serves as a key integrator between firm leadership and day-to-day operations, enabling partners to focus on long-term strategy, client relationships, and legal excellence.
The ideal candidate brings a strong business and operations background, high emotional intelligence, and a proven ability to lead complex organizations through growth, change, and modernization.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Growth
- Partner with the Managing Partner and executive leadership to translate strategic vision into operational plans and firm-wide initiatives
- Drive innovation across the firm, including new business models (e.g., fixed-fee arrangements), technology adoption, and process modernization
- Conduct competitive analysis and identify opportunities to increase revenue, efficiency, and market differentiation
- Lead and optimize the firm's day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Oversee core business functions including operations, human resources, finance, IT, and administrative services
- Develop and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and performance benchmarks to support data-driven decision-making
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and cost optimization initiatives
- Identify opportunities to economize, increase productivity, and reallocate resources to support strategic hiring and growth
- Ensure appropriate risk management, compliance, and operational controls
- Serve as a leadership bridge between firm ownership and staff, promoting clarity, accountability, and engagement
- Oversee talent operations including hiring processes, onboarding, professional development, payroll, benefits, and performance management
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Act as a stabilizing presence during high-growth or high-stress periods, including conflict resolution when needed
- Lead firm-wide process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and improve client and employee experience
- Evaluate, select, and implement systems and technologies to support scalability (ERP, CRM, BI, HRIS, etc.)
- Oversee vendor relationships and third-party service providers
Required
- Senior operations or executive leadership experience, ideally within a professional services, legal, or complex service-based organization
- Strong background in business operations, finance, strategy, or organizational leadership (JD not required)
- Demonstrated success driving operational efficiency, change management, and growth initiatives
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Operational and strategic planning

This position is essential to transforming strategy into execution and ensuring the firm operates as a high-performing business as well as a legal practice.
