    Title: FPC Day School On-Call Substitute Teacher

    Approved: December 20, 2023

    Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

    Reports to: Assistant Director

    Position Summary:

    The FPC Day School's On Call Sub plays a crucial role as a team member in helping support the growth and development of enrolled students. The Day School operates a full-day early childhood education tuition-based program. The schools operating hours are Monday – Friday 7:15 am – 6:15 pm. As such, on call substitutes with the Day School must have some or full availability between these hours of operation. Shifts range from 4 – 8 hours within our daily operating hours. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in our early childhood education community while contributing to the operational growth and development of our school.

    Essential On Call Sub Functions:

    Substitute as a lead or assistant teacher in classrooms ranging from infant through preschool:

    • Responsibilities of an on-call substitute is:
      • to follow through with scheduled assignments
      • to be flexible/open to working in a different classroom throughout the day or each day
      • to assume all duties and responsibilities of the absent team member, ensuring quality early learning experiences in the absence of a full-time team member
      • to effectively manage a classroom of students by keeping them on task and engaged
      • to have a core appreciation and love for facilitating play, teaching, exploring, providing responsive caregiving and communicating with students
      • to provide a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills
      • to communicate in a professional manner to all members of the FPC Day School community
      • to provide active supervision of all enrolled students at all times to ensure the health and safety of all students.
      • to follow the daily schedule as posted/ use our Procare app to document engagement
      • to follow the posted lesson plan to ensure student developmental needs are met
      • to maintain student and staff confidentiality, and to assist with non-classroom duties when assigned

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of one year work experience with young children in a licensed childcare facility. Must be willing to complete 36 hours of approved training annually, First Aid/CPR/BBP.
    • A CDA or higher-level degree in early childhood education or a related field is a plus or be willing to obtain within 6 months. A combination of education and professional experience with children in preferred.

    Terms of Employment
