    ORGANIZATION NJ Transit (NJT) is a public corporation whose mission is to move New Jersey and the region by providing safe, reliable and affordable public transportation that connects people to their everyday lives, one trip at a time.

    Covering a service area of 5,325 square miles, NJT is the nation's third largest provider of bus, rail and light rail transit, linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.

    The agency operates an active fleet of 2,221 buses, 1,231 trains and 93 light rail vehicles. On 253 bus routes and 12 rail lines statewide, NJT provides nearly 270 million passenger trips each year.

    NJT also administers several publicly funded transit programs for people with disabilities, senior citizens and people living in the state's rural areas who have no other means of transportation.

    In addition, the agency provides support and equipment to privately owned contract bus carriers.
    ROLE SUMMARY NJ Transit's Auditor General has oversight for all of the corporation's audit and risk management activities.

    With an operating budget of $3 billion and 12,000 union and non-union employees, the Auditor General represents NJT's Audit plans and results with external constituents including the board, state and federal authorities, regulators, bankers, developers, and other partners.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    ► Develop and implement annual audit plan for NJT based on risk analysis for Finance, Capital Programs, Procurement, and IT
    ► Meet annually with NJT BUs to develop Fiscal Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment
    ► Establish policies for audit including scope, objectives, risks and concerns
    ► Oversee publication of all Audit reports
    ► Meet quarterly with Board of Director's Audit Committee and provide updates on status
    ► Represent Internal Audit with all internal & external stakeholders
    ► Manage compliance with critical federal and state regulations
    ► Monitor remedial action taken by management to correct deficiencies
    ► Advise business units of potential audit issues
    ► Investigate fraud, waste and abuse QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
    ► BA, Business Administration, specializing in Accounting or related area
    ► 10+ years' audit experience with 7 years at the supervisory level
    ► Managed in an organization with an operating budget of at least $100M
    ► Strong leadership, managerial, organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
    ► Adept in developing actionable, well-reasoned recommendations to the CEO, Executive leadership, and Board
    ► Strategic thinker, and a proactive business partner in a multi-business-line company
