    The Nurse Manager assumes 24 hour responsibility for directing and coordinating the clinical activities and operations of 5RS Oncology Unit.

    The Nurse Manager directs, supervises and evaluates the performance of the nursing staff, contributes to the development of a fully qualified and continuously improving staff, and he/she supports work redesign and quality improvement within the department.

    The Nurse Manager integrates evidence based practice utilizing the nursing process. Schedules staff in the most cost effective manner using OptiLink. Proactively plans for future staffing needs by using forecasting data in Optilink. Ensures staff schedules are complete and published in OptiLink within the appropriate time frame. Monitors patient classification, patient assignments and reconciliation in Optilink.

    Ensures that the unit is following our systematic method for predicting the numbers and types of required resources and making equitable and safe patient assignments.
