    About the team and position

    Carvana is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team as a Data Engineer. The Data Engineer will play a key role in developing and maintaining all aspects of Carvana's first-of-its-kind automobile lending platform, as well as supporting Carvana's relationships with major financial institutions. Most importantly, you will see your insights have an immediate, tangible impact every day as part of a fast-moving business-focused team.

    What you'll be doing

    • Ensure data integrity for Carvana's multi-billion dollar auto finance business.
    • Design databases to support business applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance, and reliability.
    • Continuously improve data solutions to increase data quality and speed of data deliverability.
    • Test programs or databases, correct errors, and make necessary modifications.
    • Communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, data scientists, data analysts, and business leaders to ensure correct and timely implementation of data requests.
    • Develop and document database architectures.
    • Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management.
    • Train users and answer questions.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    What you should have

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or relevant technical field.
    • Goal-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
    • Advanced knowledge of SQL and at least one other programming language.
