Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Teacher Assistant (Float) to join our educational team In this versatile role, you will provide essential support across All classrooms (6 weeks of age through 5 years of age) helping create a nurturing and engaging environment for children of various ages. Your energetic approach will ensure that each student receives personalized attention, fostering their growth in literacy, math, social skills, and overall development. As a float teacher assistant, you will collaborate closely with lead teachers to implement curriculum plans, manage classroom activities, and support children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or special education requirements. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in early childhood education while gaining valuable classroom experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy education, math, and early childhood development activities
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive environment and encouraging appropriate behavior among children
- Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs), including working with children with autism or disabilities
- Help prepare classroom materials and set up learning stations to facilitate smooth lesson flow and hands-on activities
- Supervise children during transitions, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety and well-being
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and curriculum development tailored to different age groups such as toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to support each child's unique learning journey
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Experience supporting students with special needs or working with individuals with autism or disabilities is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and students
- Ability to adapt quickly across different classrooms and age groups as a float staff member
- Certification or coursework in early childhood education or related fields is advantageous but not required
